Born in the small town of Hazelton, BC, Carol grew up playing every sport she could. At the urging of family and friends, she joined her high school wrestling team at age 15 and has enjoyed and excelled at the sport ever since.

She was recruited by Simon Fraser University in 1998 where she later received a BA in Psychology. She made the Junior World team in 1999 and in 2000 she made both the Junior and Senior World Teams. Carol has relinquished her position on the senior national team only once in her career. Unfortunately, it was the year leading up to the 2004 Olympic Games...

Determined to make the 2008 Olympic Team, Carol in 2007 moved from Vancouver to Calgary. She left her friends and family, and put her academic career on hold to enable her to focus solely on her training and pursue her Olympic Dreams to the fullest.

Now that she has made the Olympic team for 2008, she is looking forward to future success. With supportive friends, family, teammates and coaches, Carol is prepared for the arduous journey that the pursuit of Olympic Gold may be.

In the future Carol sees herself attaining her goals and aspirations of going back to University to become a sport psychologist and starting a family with her husband.

Carol! You are a huge inspiration! I'm an amateur wrestler and also a Vietnamese Canadian. You make me believe anything's possible. I see that you reside in Burnaby, BC. I will be attending the FILA Cadet Nationals in Burnaby on April 10th, 2010. It would be the biggest day of my life if you made a showing! I really hope to see you there Carol!
